Introducing our Pharmacist prescriber

We are pleased to introduce a new clinician and a new role to our General Practice.

Sanmarie Firestone is a Pharmacist Prescriber who can support our doctors and nurses in a number of ways. As a prescriber she will shorten the wait time for many patients requiring repeat medications, medication reviews, blood tests, and help with long-term conditions.

She is the mum of two pre-schoolers and has returned to Whangarei, with her husband, Ben, to build a home near her family.

Kia ora, my name is Joanne Labedzki, and I am your Health Improveament Practitioner. It's FREE to see me. I can help with a range of things, including:

Stress - Grief - Headaches or migraines - Sleep problems - Feeling stuck, down or worried - Gender identity and sexual orientation - Living well with pain - Overuse of alcohol or drugs - Coping with illness and health conditions such as diabetes, asthma or digestive problems - Family and/or parenting challenges -Relationship tensions - Making lifestyle changes like weight loss or quitting smoking

Dr Maik Huneke

Dr Maik has been treating a number of our patients with Neural Therapy for a year now. He has brought relief to all sorts of aches and pains from accidents, damaged shoulders, damaged knees, sore backs and migraines.

He is available on Tuesday afternoons if you would like to book an appointment with him.

Remote/Telehealth doctors
As some of you may have experienced lately, we are also able to offer phone consults and video consults with our telehealth doctors.

This can be useful if you need to be seen sooner, or if you’d prefer the convenience of online GP services.

Video consults are undertaken in a stand-alone consult room at NEHC so that your interaction is seamless and confidential, and so that a nurse is available for triage.

Nursing team
Kelly, our lead nurse, has recently qualified for skin cancer checks. We would encourage patients to make use of this service.

Amber is doing punch biopsies and is becoming increasingly skilled at this procedure. Once again, feel free to book an appointment with Amber for this service.

Kelly and Amber are both our champions for cervical screening, sexual health and immunisations, including travel vaccines.

All nurses are available to support long-term conditions, receive prescription requests, carry out diabetic reviews, cardiovascular risk assessments, your annual Kia Ora Vision plan, enrolment in Kia Ora Vision, wound and stitch care, nurse ACC consult, ECG, liquid nitrogen, blood pressure, sore throats, sore ears, education regarding nutrition and lifestyle change and triage any patients arriving at the clinic for a consult or a more urgent situation.

Kim and Judy both offer Intravenous Vitamin C, including initial visit and triage. Also other IV treatments such as Chelation Therapy, DMPS Provocation/Testing for Heavy Metals and other Essential Elements, iron infusions, eclasta, rehydration and antibiotics. Enquire at reception.

Home visits for IVC, rehydration, and phlebotomy (blood tests) are available for those who are too unwell or fragile to make it to the clinic or lab.

The nurses always have a bar of Ecostore Baby Soap Goat’s Milk for our new babies.

Manage My Health
We will not be replacing Manage My Health when our contract with the PHO comes to an end at the beginning of November. Patients will still have access to MMH but no more results will go into it.
