Hi and welcome to the Slugg Records newsletter, Autumn Edition.

Bipolar Explorer in The Wire magazine

Header for Issue 511 of The Wire

Bipolar Explorer's new album Last Lights was featured in the September issue of the UK's legendary The Wire magazine.

Leading off the Avant Rock section, Noel Gardner said of the new double album "...ample discord is present in a set that builds itself around Serafin-Wells's multiplicity of guitar textures. Like Windy & Carl at their gothiest - which is very welcome."

Last Lights CD available at Rough Trade NYC

black and white Rough Trade logo and Bipolar Explorer

If you're like us and still routinely buy music on physical media - it's why we continue to release Tremosphere and Bipolar Explorer albums on CD - you probably still love record stores. That's why we're excited to say that once again Rough Trade NYC is carrying our latest release Last Lights on CD.

We also appreciated their very kind words about the album on their website:

"The newest offering from Bipolar Explorer, this release continues the project’s distinctive path with a clear sense of mood and character. It’s a record that feels personal and thoughtfully put together, inviting repeat listens and rewarding close attention.

For listeners already tuned into Bipolar Explorer, there’s plenty here to get stuck into. If you’re coming in fresh, this is a strong place to start: direct, engaging, and full of the qualities that make the project worth following."

If you're NYC local you can pop by in person and find a copy on their shelves.

WFMU and KFJC Charts

We're enormously grateful for the non-commercial freeform radio airplay Last Lights have received since its release in June and excited to report that it has made the Heavily Played Records charts on both KFJC - reaching the number 17 position in its first week (also the number 1 "new add") and 14th on WFMU. Huge thanks to everyone at both stations.

On October 26th we'll release that live recording more widely - to Apple Music and all streaming services (except Spotify).
