| | As summer begins, we wanted to wish you a wonderful and well-deserved break!
Another school year is in the books, and we know how much time, energy, and heart you have poured into your students. As FCS educators, we have the privilege of helping young people build practical skills, discover their passions, and prepare for the lives they want to lead. That work is meaningful, and it makes a difference every single day.
Thank you for being part of our FCS community. We are grateful for all that you do, and we look forward to another great year together in the fall. Stay tuned to this newsletter throughout the summer for all the latest news! |

| | Spotlight on Success Michigan Represented at the AAFCS National Conference |
|
MIFCS board members Leah Brinker and Meglynn MacDonald attended AAFCS National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Over the course of the conference, they engaged in dynamic professional development, networked with past, present, and future FCS educators, and explored the rich history of the city. They represented MIFCS with esteem. Also receiving recognition was Amelia Enciso, a Michigan FCS educator serving on the FCSed Midwest Regional Network. The network is part of the National Partnership for Recruiting, Preparing and Supporting FCS Educators. If you'd like to join Amelia for these Zoom meetings (3 held so far this year), please see the button below.
Do you have a great story we can feature in next month's Spotlight on Success? Send information to [email protected] by the 15th of the month. |

| | From the AAFCS Office: AAFCS Now Offering Digital Credentials and Badges Through Accredible |
|
The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) is excited to announce the launch of digital credentials and badges for AAFCS professional certifications through the Accredible platform. This new initiative provides certificants with a modern, secure, and easily shareable way to showcase their professional accomplishments and credentials.
Professionals who currently hold AAFCS credentials (expiring in 2027, 2028, and 2029) will receive an email with instructions on how to access their digital credential wallet or personalized credential page. The rollout will occur in phases as credentials are issued through the Accredible system. |

| | Community Calls to Action Western Michigan University Teacher Database |
|
With the MDE-OCTE no longer tracking FCS programs, WMU is leading an effort, alongside FCCLA and MIFCS, to capture a definitive database of currently employed FCS educators in Michigan. We know there have been previous attempts, and you may have filled out these teacher databases with us before - this list will be the definitive teacher database moving forward.
Please take a moment to complete the form "Teacher Database" below to let WMU know about your FCS classes. Send this form to all your colleagues in nearby districts. Each FCS teacher within a district should complete this form. Thank you! |
