This is your October Shtetl Berlin Newsletter!

October is here, and there's a lot to celebrate! As the leaves turn gold and red and the air gets crisp, the harvest season brings us Sukes, when we step outside into the suke, welcome guests, and share food, song, and a lekhayim with friends old and new, while here in Germany, Erntedankfest carries the same spirit of gratitude for all the year has brought. Our calendar is as full and colorful as the autumn trees: concerts, jams, workshops, and heymishe gatherings where everyone is welcome. Read on to see what's coming up, and come celebrate the season with us.

Tonight: a special event!

More

Davagariko brings centuries-old Sephardic songs, carried from Spain to the Balkans, Greece and Turkey after the 1492 expulsion, into the present with modern instruments and a distinctly personal style. Their arrangements draw out the local influences these songs absorbed along the way, from nostalgia and heartbreak to love, hope and everyday life, alongside original compositions in Ladino that speak to today. Following their 2024 debut album Kuentista ("The Storyteller"), this concert is a rare chance to hear Davagariko live with their full band!
