Teens, get your April vacay off to a strong start! Bring a friend to share some pizza slices while you chat and craft! We’re teaming up with Pottery Piazza in Plainville to bring their pottery painting fun to us! Choose from an assortment of fired pieces and ceramic glazes to make your own unique piece of pottery. Space is limited. Open to teens in grades 6 – 12.

Birds vs. Windows

Saturday, April 29 @ 10:30am

Vickie Dauphinais of the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society will discuss the deadly threat birds face in our own backyards and explain how widespread the problem of bird collisions is. She will review what can be done to mitigate the problem including easy, economical approaches that can be used on our homes and places of business.
Door prize offered; one participant will win a set of anti-collision window clings.

Author ShawnaLee Waterbury-Kwashnak will discuss her new book “Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing”. “Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing” is a CT FY22 grant-supported program taught by portraitist ShawnaLee Waterbury-Kwashnak to a select group of Connecticut youth artists who created portraits inspired by their witness of healing during the pandemic. ShawnaLee will discuss the project further and the publishing of her book. Signed copies will be available to purchase.

Homeschool Story STEAM

Wednesday, April 5 and 26 @ 1:00pm

Homeschool families are invited to Homeschool Story STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) an event where we read a story and complete activities based on the book. We might read The Three Little Pigs and then engineer our own houses, or read The Little Cloud and then complete a cloud experiment. This event is for homeschool children ages 4-8 with a caregiver.

Recycled Plant Pots 

Friday, April 14 @ 2:00pm

Join us to celebrate Earth Day by making your own newspaper seedling pots. Everyone will be able to make seedling pots out of newspaper and will leave with at least one packet of seeds to start their own home gardens! The pots will be able to go directly into the ground once the seedlings are mature enough to be transplanted! This event is for children ages 5-12.
