| | You may have noticed it's June! Last month came and went in what feels like a week. It was a month of many climates, a very full calendar, and for me, many art markets, art shows, Davis Open Studios (in a wind storm), and lots of prepping and tweaking, transporting, setting up and tearing down so I haven't started a single new piece. Still, it was a full and fun month and I met lots of new art-friends. Welcome to those who signed up to receive this email. I'm always happy to hear comments or answer questions, so just hit reply if the need arises! Here's where things are as we move from to June: |

I have pieces in two different shows this month that have to do with climate. At the MACC (Mills Station Arts & Culture Center) in Rancho Cordova, my polyptych, Flows, created from four 6" wood panels, was selected for the current show which runs from June 11 to June 27. |

RECEPTION: Friday, June 12 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm 10191 Mills Station Road, Rancho Cordova CA |

In San Francisco, the June show at the SFWA Gallery is themed 'Parched'. I was happy to have two pieces selected, each having to do with heatwaves. On the right below is Borders, inspired by a very disturbing news story I heard shortly after I returned from Tunisia in 2023. It seems the government there had rounded up a large number of immigrants and deposited them across the border into Libya during a heatwave. Kitted out with only a bottle of water each, most of them perished. The art itself represents borders with my name in Arabic in one portion and English letters in the other as well as representations of water, sand, concrete and some drops of red. The collage on the right, Heatwave, has no such a tale. It simply hints at a wind-swept ghost town, somewhere in the US, and an old sign pointing to a watering hole. Both are collages made with acrylic paint and paper on 12" wood panels and set in black float frames. |

And coming soon... I will be having some of my newer works on the walls at Hotel Winters in Winters, CA. And a heads-up to mark your calendars for July 12 when there will be a reception for my next exhibition which I'll be sharing with one other artist in Benicia, CA. More on both of these in about a month. |

My Print-On-Demand Site My Print-On-Demand site is where you can get high-quality prints of most of my work on your choice of paper, canvas, metal, plexiglass and who knows what else in many sizes and configurations. I also license a bit of merch - I've found that abstracts make great throw pillows (many size choices) - and there are two sizes of mugs, totebags, notebooks, a couple of people have even bought shower curtains! Have a look at https://jessica-levant.pixels.com/ to see it all! They offer a money-back guarantee, so how can you go wrong? |

Studio Visit? You're Welcome! Some views of my (rather messy) studio in Davis. You can see I'm running out of space! |
|
I am always happy to welcome people to my studio and offer a tour of my walls (where half my artwork is 'stored' when it's not displayed elsewhere). You can arrange a visit (here or via zoom) on my calendar app: app.simplymeet.me/jessicalevant. Or, give me a call, send me a text, a Facebook Message, an email, (or reply to this newsletter), etc, and we'll make an appointment together.
Just about all of my artwork is on my website, of course, so you might want to just visit that first! It's not ALL on my walls... |

The Jazz Books (Back when life was simple and I had more time...)
The two volumes of Bay Area Jazz and Bluesicians, with a total of 251 Bay Area musicians that I photographed while they performed are still available. Here's a link that will let you preview some pages and the list of musicians before you order. Note: I have just reduced the price! I prefer you don't buy them on amazon since they have been very slippery about royalties. |
