Welcome to the fourth edition of CFINE’s Community Growing Newsletter, a place for people who are interested in getting involved in their local community gardens.
August welcomes four Music in the Gardens events – at Ruthrieston, SNUG, St Fitticks, and Middlefield. There are calls for volunteers at SNUG, Off the Rails, and Bonnymuir. Alcohol and Drugs Action are holding a plants sale, and as always, be sure to check out our Community Growing Calendar for a full breakdown of opportunities!

August Volunteering Sessions |
|
You can find full details of regular volunteering opportunities via our Community Growing Calendar. This month includes regular sessions at Bonnymuir Green, Mounthooly, Erroll Street Allotments, Cornhill, and SNUG Community Garden. |

Site Maintenance Session - St Fitticks Edible Garden |
|
St Fitticks next site maintenance session will be held on Saturday 1st of August from 10am-2pm. The Garden are aiming to held sessions on every first Saturday and third Sunday of the month - 10-2pm in August.
Planned tasks for the next session: Continuing to remove the soil heap and move to the raised beds Weeding raised beds and add compost Litter picking Other bibs and bobs depending on the turnout
Strimmers are welcome, other tools & refreshments will be provided.
Location: AB11 9QT (Next to Nigg Bay Golf Club)

Off The Rails Community Garden are currently looking for more volunteers and committee members to help them continue to build up and maintain their beautiful garden in Woodside. No previous experience needed! |

Volunteers wanted - SNUG Community Garden |

Please see below a call for volunteers from SNUG Community Garden:
SNUG Community Garden is located in Seaton and run by Fresh Community Wellness SCIO. We have been here for 5 years. We grow vegetables and plants, and have a large area of grass to cut. Like most of the community gardens we are looking for volunteers . Our regular session is on a Saturday morning from 10am and runs through to about noon. If interested please get in touch with Neil. |

Volunteers wanted - Bonnymuir Green Cafe |
|
Bonnymuir Green's Cafe are looking for volunteers who would like to help out with food prep in the kitchen of our community café on Fridays and Saturdays. The role includes preparing and assembling paninis, sausage and bacon rolls and heating soup. No experience is required and all training will be provided. |

There are four Music in the Gardens events happening in August! Ruthrieston Community Centre, 8th August, 1-4pm SNUG Community Garden, 15th August, 1-4pm St Fitticks Edible Garden, 22nd August 10am-3pm Middlefield Community Garden, 29th August, time TBC

Join us on Saturday 15th August for an afternoon filled with live music! Including live performances from Elisabeth Flett and Lucy Kennedy. This is a great opportunity to meet members of your local community, learn more about SNUG Community Garden, and enjoy some live music. There is still time to get involved in a FREE songwriting workshop delivered by Elisabeth Flett and John Montgomery. Sign-up here to learn about the art of songwriting, create a song as a group, and even get the chance to perform it (if you are feeling up to it)! 🎤 |

Alcohol and Drugs Action Plant Sale |
|
This years Alcohol and Drugs Action Plant Sale will be held at Gairn Community Garden from 10am - 1pm on Saturday 22nd August. There are likely to be a selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Cash payment is preferred, and there will also be the option of online bank transfer. If you would like to donate plants, volunteer by manning a stall, or support with sorting and transporting plants from the Grove please contact Judith. |

Envirolution is a free, community-based festival dedicated to increasing understanding, connection and engagement with the natural world. This year's programme is still to be fully confirmed, but you can expect inspiring talks, live music, interactive workshops and stalls, and more! |

The Allotment Market Stall! |
|
A wee reminder that you can visit TAMS every Friday until September 25th. Come along for some great local fruit and veg. All local growers are invited to donate surplus produce - just get in touch to arrange drop off or a collection. There are opportunities for volunteers to help on the stall each Friday too. |
