Dear Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are enjoying the beginning of fall.

This is my first newsletter of the 2026/27 concert season — and it’s going to be a special one. My 60th birthday is coming up in 2027, and I’ve decided to celebrate it in as many of my favorite musical places as possible. The preparations have already begun! A lot has happened over the summer that is leading us toward these celebrations.

Together with the wonderful Joo Kraus and my brother Veit on bass, Sirius Quartet released a new recording called Third Space. I’m very excited to finally share this music with you.

I also received a New Jazz Grant from Chamber Music America, which is a huge honor — and a very competitive one. (Believe me, I tried many times!) The grant will support the premiere of a new composition of mine in the second half of 2027, bringing together the Gregor Huebner NY-NRG Quartet and Sirius Quartet. I’m incredibly excited about this project and the possibilities of putting these two groups together.

And there is more music on the way: a new recording by the NY-NRG Quartet will be released in 2027 on the prestigious Sunnyside Records label, along with new recordings featuring the trio Nagai/Huebner/Takeishi.

On December 7, my compositions Clockwork Interrupted and New World Nov. 9, 2016, will be performed by the Munich University Orchestra and University Big Band, joining forces for a special concert at the Isarphilharmonie in Munich. I don’t think I’ve ever written so many notes! 😁

And finally, on December 30, we will premiere a brand-new show, "Klar Schiff," at the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart. I’ll be performing with the band of friends I’ve been making music with for most of my life, Berta Epple. It’s going to be a very special night — so you better get your tickets now!

This fall is going to be a hot start to the season, and I would love for you to be part of this journey toward 2027 and all the music that’s ahead.
