We’re kicking off a new school year with a lot to celebrate—and even more to look forward to.

From the impact we’re seeing across D102 families, to a summer full of tech-free fun, to new programs and resources coming this year, Hold the Phone is continuing to grow—and we’re so glad you’re part of it.

Here’s what’s happening!

THE RESULTS ARE IN...

Last spring, we asked D102 families to tell us how Hold the Phone was making a difference—and what you told us was pretty exciting.

Among families who engaged with HTP:

73% changed their family’s tech habits because of HTP

71% say their child is more aware of healthy tech habits

69% feel more confident setting tech limits

We’re incredibly encouraged by these results—and grateful to every family who participated, showed up, tried something new, or simply started a conversation at home.

Your feedback also gave us valuable insight into what D102 families want and need next—and we’re using it to help shape our programming for the year ahead.

A SUMMER WELL SPENT

Remember our 90s Summer Bingo Challenge?

D102 kids and families spent the summer biking, playing, exploring, creating, getting outside—and racking up some seriously impressive tech-free experiences along the way.

And many of them won some pretty great prizes, too!

Thanks to the generosity of our local business partners, we were able to celebrate participants with prizes from some of our favorite spots around the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated—and to the local businesses that supported Hold the Phone and helped make the challenge so much fun.

Here’s to bringing a little more 90s-style childhood into every summer.

Did your kid win? HTP will be in touch!

WHAT'S COMING THIS YEAR

We’re just getting started.

This school year, Hold the Phone will continue creating opportunities for D102 families to learn, connect and navigate technology together.

Year 2 of our Tech Education Series with D102
We’re bringing back our district-wide education series with new topics designed to give parents practical information and tools. Look for sessions on parental controls, AI, technology’s impact on executive functioning and more.

Introducing the HTP Film Club 🎬
We’ll gather to watch important documentaries exploring kids, technology and childhood—with time after each film for parents and community members to connect, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

News & Research Worth Sharing 📰
Technology changes fast—and so does what we know about its impact on kids. We’ll continue sharing timely news, research and resources about technology, social media and childhood, helping families stay informed without having to sort through all the noise themselves.

At the heart of all of this is a simple goal: to give families the information, tools and community they need to make the healthiest tech decisions for their own families.

More dates, speakers, resources and opportunities to connect are coming soon!

Thanks for being part of Hold the Phone.

Every conversation, every small change and every family choosing to be a little more intentional about technology helps build a community where kids have more space to play, connect, explore and just be kids.

We’re not anti-tech. We’re pro-kid.
